About me

I have had wide range of creative hobbies over the years, from musical performance, to painting, and to things as simple as knitting! If I have the opportunity to learn a new creative skill, I will try it. It was during my time at college that I discovered my love for jewellery, and decided to study for a diploma with the British Academy of Jewellery. During that time I had the opportunity to explore a range of basic jewellery and silversmithing techniques which I really enjoyed, and was nominated for student of the year.

From there I went on to do my HND in Jewellery and Silversmithing at BCU's School of Jewellery, while working on a small wooden homeware and jewellery business in my free time. After three years of doing jewellery up until this point, I realised I was missing important skills beyond the world of jewellery. I joined the BA in Design Management to further myself in the areas I felt I was lacking on a personal and professional level.

As I started my journey in jewellery, I'm sure there are some people wondering how I made the leap towards user experience in rail travel. It was during my studies in the BA that I realised I had an interest in user experience, especially in relation to accessibility. I have always had a personal interest in trains, and more specifically the London Underground. Combining these two interests has inspired me and all the projects I have worked on since.

I'm now on the masters programme, and continue to do what I love to do. I enjoy being able to combine my passion for creativity with the business strategy and managerial techniques I have developed over the past two years. By branching away from such a niche subject, I have been able to explore so many more avenues of design, work with some amazing people, and become confident in my abilities as a design thinker. Projects I have completed so far have been included in my portfolio page as PDF documents, and will continue to be added to as I complete them.

I hope to one day be able to apply the skills I have learnt throughout the BA and MA programmes towards a career in user experience research and design within the rail industry.
